Please note that none of the demonstrations in css/edge are intended to work in Navigator 4.x. I say this not to denigrate that browser, but instead to spare you any frustration you might otherwise feel. This site exists to explore the cutting edge of HTML+CSS design, and Navigator 4.x is, at four years and counting, just too old to keep up with most things that will be done here. Again, there's nothing wrong with Navigator 4.x, but you probably don't want to use it in this area. Consider it a friendly warning.

Look Ma' No Tables !

This is a special version of Interchange. The entire layout of the site is written using Cascading Style Sheets, or CSS. Normally, web designers are forced to use Tables when designing sites which can lead to a tremendous amount of wasted time and energy creating the site but also when trying to modify the design later. There is not one table used in the layout of this page.

With CSS you need only to modify one page and the entire website is changed accordingly. Pretty cool, huh?

Unfortunately, there are a few problems in the exclusive use of CSS. Namely, older browsers, generally prior to version 5, have a difficult time or can not understand CSS at all. Even some of the newer browsers, ie. IE 6.0 for Windows, have some "bugs" when it comes to following the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium, better known as W3C. So designers and customers have some hard decisions to make.
